Apple has just announced that their Volume Purchase Program will soon support volume app purchases in 16 new countries.
Added to the Volume Purchase Program (VPP) webpages for business and education, the announcement does not provide a specific date, but notes upcoming availability in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
Initially rolled out in the United States, Apple’s first expansion of VPP in 2012 added support in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
VPP allows both businesses and educational institutions to purchase multiple app licenses as a single purchase. The resulting app licenses can be used as regular redeemable codes or as a managed distribution where the organization maintains ownership of a license and can revoke and redeem it on another Apple ID as needed.
VPP enrollment is also required to purchase custom B2B apps, like our Kiosk Pro Enterprise version.
While the VPP doesn’t provide volume discounts (except for certain educational apps), it does significantly simplify the purchasing and deployment process for larger kiosk projects. We’re excited to hear that it will be available for more users moving forward!
This change is now live! On 8/26/2014, Apple announced that the countries listed above are now eligible for the Volume Purchase Program.
